Lace, but make it drape. A sheer stretch-lace top with long fitted sleeves and an open front that falls into a soft cowl, with ruching down the sides that gathers it in at the hip. No buttons and no ties: it drapes over a tank or a slip and does the styling for you.
Layer it over a white tank with a long jersey skirt. In black and charcoal.
